Fiji is an island nation in the centre of the  South Pacific Ocean. Its archipelago of 322 islands and 522 islets are scattered like emeralds midway between the equator and the tropic of Capricorn and  straddling the international date line. Both geographically and metaphorically  Fiji is thousands of miles from the major industrial continents. It is the first place in the world to see every new day. Its people will show you the hospitality, joy and love of life that only living in one of the most beautiful environments in the world can bring

From its volcanic origins Fiji is very mountainous. and covered with verdant virgin rainforests. Huge rivers slicing between its mountain ranges give age old pathways to the interior.

Of Fiji's 322 islands only 106 are permanently inhabited. Most people however live on one of the two large islands. Viti Levu is the largest island in Fiji and home to about three quarters of Fiji's population of just under a million people. It is home to Fiji's main international airport, Nadi (pronounced Nandi) in the West and the Capital City Suva in the South East. There is a sealed road most of the way around the island, about 450k long with the stretch from Rakiraki to Korovo in the NE still under construction.
